FRSimeon’s Offense to the Catholic Faith Defender’s Sack

This is a re-post from the old Sola Scriptura Baptist Church blog at Friendster which was taken down due to Friendster overhaul.

Learn From History

Here at THE PRIMER we try to live up to our motto that, contrary to popular belief, we are really nice people.  We do not claim to be soap opera stars whose primary role in the world is to cry when their hand gets called.  We leave that up to our Filipino BBF friends.
When I get the chance, I get up and try to catch the sunrise at the beach and there spend my quiet time.  All was going pretty majestic when a fellow by the name of Alex came up to hurl fireball questions toward my general direction.  He saw that I had a Bible in my hand.  I wondered if it was his calling in life to ruin people’s alone time.  Unfortunately, the fellow had a familiar look in his eye and he sure was not there to simply inquire.  He came to cross blades.  I still had a hopeful eye on the sunrise- wishing that in my alone time I could be… um… alone.

And so it began.  The battlegrounds were the History and Prophecy of the Roman Catholic Church.  The stake was eternal glory.  Well at least for him it was.  Knowing I would not get a peaceful morning now, I was just hoping for my consolation – a banner breakfast.

Round one started.  Without hesitation, our hero commenced with his spiel on the meaning of the word Catholic and skillfully tied it with their humble beginnings (with the apostles) onto their magnificent conquests (Rome itself).  I wondered if the CFD’s actually come out with manuals since they all (at least the ones I have dealt with) start with the same speech and almost with the same gestures!  He asked me if I had any contest that the origin of his church was biblical.  I agreed and it seemed that I did to his surprise.  I wondered why I was on the defense when he was the Catholic Faith Defender.  The sun was in full view.  He went on.  I wondered where I could get a cold glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.  Maybe I can swing by the Farmer’s market when this is all over with.

My turn.  Clearly this guy is an ex-seminarian.  If not all, most ex-seminarians are over zealous to get their first trophy.  I wondered if he was guilty of dropping off the system.  He forgot to lay the boundaries so I did.  I promised him I would not quote Chinquy, Cloud, Chick or even Woodrow’s Babylon Mystery Religion and Hislops’ classic Two Babylons if we would just stick to the pure, unadulterated King James Bible.  He agreed.  I was surprised.  I wondered if this guy really did come prepared.  The sun was starting to get hot.  I motioned towards the breakfast places as I began.

  1. Why bother?

    What’s your point?

If you have a problem with Catholic people, why go “offensive” over the whole religion?
Most Jews don’t believe in Jesus and believe He brought them suffering, is that a sin?
    What about the other religions?

    Heck, what about aliens?

How do you know you are right? How do we know who’s right?

Reading this is feels like the writer is using a nuclear bomb to bring world peace.

Respect. Keep your faith, share it, spread what you believe. But don’t step on other people’s belief.

I keep my faith in God, not with religion.

I embrace how the Buddhist look at life, I’m impressed with Islam’s devotion, and i love my Adventist wife.

    PS
Actually it’s Easter that represents “when the short days start to lengthen”, and that name comes from the the goddes Eostre.

    • I’m not quite sure if you’ve read the whole post. Most of the questions you raised are already answered in the post. Also, please read the references given especially in Revelation 17.

  2. OK, let me rephrase my comment to make it easier for everybody:

Why spread anything that has a touch of hatred over a Christian blog?

Catholicism has a shady past, and the ‘organization’ is shady still, but the belief of the people is real, and their faith in God is equal to yours. And if you think otherwise, then you are just as worse as they are.

    • Why bother?
-I know right? Why bother someone who just wanted to have alone time and wanted to have breakfast in a bit only to find out that he actually is NOT ignorant about the matter? Haha it’s like trying to pick a fight on someone only to find out he knows Krav Maga.

      What’s your point?
      -The Point is this:
      1. Author wants to have alone time and breakfast.
      2. Alex the CFD invaded his privacy because he wanted to debate
      3. Author uses the bible on the defense
      4. Alex drops his poker face.
      5. Author goes on the offense.
      6. Jokers around the world cry that it’s the author’s fault for wanting alone time and breakfast.

If you have a problem with Catholic people, why go “offensive” over the whole religion?
-I’m pretty sure it’s because the author’s favorite meal is breakfast.

Most Jews don’t believe in Jesus and believe He brought them suffering, is that a sin?
      1. Jesus Healed the Nobleman’s son in John 4:46. I’m pretty sure the son ceased from suffering.
      2. How about Mark 1:21 when he healed the demon possessed? I’m sure that guy ceased from suffering.
      3. How about Peter’s Mother in Law? Matthew 8:14. I’m pretty sure the first Pope’s mother in law ceased from suffering. (WHAT?!?!?!?! I thought those guys can’t marry?)
      4. What about Lazarus, in John 11, when he was raised form the dead?
      5. What about Matt 11:28 when Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
      6. What about in the cross of Calvary? Who suffered there? (Matt 27:25)
      7. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit – I Pet 3:18

      What about the other religions?
-No Religion can bring salvation to anyone.
-Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

      Heck, what about aliens?
-as long as they’re legal, they know how to work, pay the bills, and speak the language, they’re great.
-if you’re talking about their salvation, refer to my answer on the previous question.
-if you’re talking about the Martians, please refer to Alf or Master Yoda.

How do you know you are right? How do we know who’s right?
      1. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. – Matt 22:29
      2. For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. – Ps 33:4
      3. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. – Jn 17:17

Reading this is feels like the writer is using a nuclear bomb to bring world peace.
      1. Author wants to have alone time and breakfast.
      2. Alex the CFD invaded his privacy because he wanted to debate
      3. Author uses the bible on the defense
      4. Alex drops his poker face.
      5. Author goes on the offense.
      6. Jokers around the world cry that the writer is using a nuclear bomb to bring world peace.

      Respect.
-You want the author to respect the Catholic faith but you’re not respecting the Author’s. Hmmmm. Do I smell something foul?

Keep your faith, share it, spread what you believe.
-Man, what is it? You gotta make up your mind here, buddy. Keep it or share it?

But don’t step on other people’s belief.
      -…much less their breakfast.

I keep my faith in God, not with religion.
-Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. – James 2:19

I embrace how the Buddhist look at life, I’m impressed with Islam’s devotion, and i love my Adventist wife.
-The Buddhist do not believe in a supreme being. That’s against the Islamic and the Adventist beliefs. Some may point out that it is actually Buddha that is the principal of the faith but Buddha is most certainly not the god of Islam nor the god of the Adventist. (Wait, didn’t you just say that you keep your faith in god? Which one is it again?)
-Islam teaches that the Buddhist and the Adventist are Infidels.
-Adventists’ Commandment Number 1 (the Law) immediately disqualifies the many beings that the Buddhists worship and the Allah of Islam.
-It true that you have the liberty to embrace whatever you want to embrace, but this exhibit just shows how much of a confused man you are.

PS Actually it’s Easter that represents “when the short days start to lengthen”, and that name comes from the the goddes Eostre.
-you have got to be kidding me, man. Read the Context: “The shortest days of the year falls on the 20th to the 24th of December. On the 25th, when the short days start to lengthen, the pagans worship the sun god to thank him for it.”
-Although you are correct in one area – that Easter is also associated with some lengthening of the day (hence equinox- it lengthens its time more than the night), you are wrong to say that it represents when the short days start to lengthen. The key word is START. Look up the word Solstice. (Krav Maga)

OK, let me rephrase my comment to make it easier for everybody:
-Let me quote yourself: “How do you know you are right?”

Why spread anything that has a touch of hatred over a Christian blog?
-Telling the truth is NOT hate. Killing people who don’t believe the same thing you do is. Just because the word offense is present doesn’t mean they’re hateful. Have you ever seen a basketball? Have you ever played the game?

Catholicism has a shady past, and the ‘organization’ is shady still,
-Oh now you’re playing it safe. Throughout the pages of history, pussyfooting hasn’t proven anything except cowardice. Whatever happened to your … and I quote you again… “respect”? Stop spreading your… and I quote yourself again… “hatred.” Nuclear Bomb! Nuclear Bomb!

but the belief of the people is real,
      - You know you can REALLY believe that gravity does not exist but jumping off of a building will prove nothing except Gravity itself and your stupidity.

and their faith in God is equal to yours.
-no it aint. And what do you know? You’re the one with all the questions and the aliens now you’re pretending to know my belief?

And if you think otherwise, then you are just as worse as they are.
      - it should say “as bad as” not “as worse as” (wait… didn’t you use the word “shady” earlier? Now it’s bad or even… worse? Whoa now, buddy. Tone down on the “Hatred” there, tiger. Where’s the “respect”?)
      - Seeing from the previous statement that you know squat about my belief (and apparently yours too) this statement becomes null and void. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Alex may be a Roman Catholic but not all Roman Catholics act like that, Dan for example would have noticed your boob first rather than you’re Bible and walk on by.

This was published, and at the end it says “Leave a Reply”

How many Messianic Jews are there again? I wonder why

Where in my post did I show non respect to your religion? I am from a Reformed Baptist family, and my in-laws are Adventists and we all co-exist, peacefully.

Speaking of in-laws, Peter, regardless what the Alexs in the world tell you, he was not a Roman Catholic, and Jesus was a Jew.

When you spread your faith, you don’t lose it. Seriously, how dumb is that?

I keep my faith in God, not with religion.

And like what i said I embrace how the Buddhist look at life, I’m impressed with Islam’s devotion, and i love my Adventist wife. Unchecked desire does lead to suffering. I am not fasting now. And I really do love my wife.

Ok I misread “when the short days start to lengthen”

Read your post, you were saying Catholicism is wrong.

Catholicism has a shady past, and the ‘organization’ is shady still, but the belief of the people is real, and their faith in God is equal to yours.

If you truly believe that “No Religion can bring salvation to anyone”, then you know what exactly I am talking about.
By the way, please don’t cut my sentences as you see necessary, like you do with Bible verses (OK I have to admit, I have to thank my wife for that sentence). Look up the word “context”, it’s under letter C.

I love breakfast too, who knows, maybe we will see each other in heaven soon, maybe we could even enjoy a breakfast together there. Just don’t get disappointed when you see me there because yes, my faith in God is equal to yours.

Notice I am making fun of you, not your religion.

  4. Alex may be a Roman Catholic but not all Roman Catholics act like that, Dan for example would have noticed your boob first rather than you’re Bible and walk on by.
-Oh yeah like what boob would Dan notice when I was doing my Alone Time (That translates to reading my bible and praying) in the beach? See, you want to give Alex or the Roman Catholics the benefit of the doubt for that one event but you won’t give it to me. And while I frankly don’t care if you do or you don’t, I’m just telling you to consider the truth in the verses and that your inconsistency is waaay too obvious. The Bible tells us to EARNESTLY contend for the faith. (Jude 1:3)

-I live in the Philippines; Bohol is an Island IN the Philippines. In front of the house that I was staying in that time, was the beach. I took a walk early in the morning to take my devotions while watching the sun rise (If Dan passed by that same time, he wouldn’t have been offended like you have. What boob would he have noticed first?). Alex wanted to debate (now that’s rude and disrespectful, don’t you think?). I tried to shrug him away. He wouldn’t stop so I called his hand. It just so happened that he was an over eager joker who didn’t do his homework.

So here comes Mr Couth-Over-Truth: “Never mind all the truth. Never mind all the bible verses. Never mind all the arguments. He wasn’t very couth about it. Well it may be true but I don’t like the way he said it.”

Mr Breakfast Man: “We’re not in high school anymore. Grow up.”

I suppose John’s a warmonger too for publishing the Foxe’s Book of Martys never mind the truth written in that book. Come on, Buddy. It’s Standard Operational Procedure in Debate Class for losers: “If you can’t deal with the truth they’re presenting, attack their methods or even their personality.”

This was published, and at the end it says “Leave a Reply”
-Great. Thanks for replying. Sure don’t see anyone stopping you. Your reply also had a reply button at the end. Check it out.

How many Messianic Jews are there again? I wonder why
-I’ll overlook the fact that you didn’t deal with any of the verses at all but the answer is: Not many; because they trust in their religion instead of The Lord Jesus. Seriously man, this argument really does not do anything good for you. It’s just proving my point.

Where in my post did I show non respect to your religion? I am from a Reformed Baptist family, and my in-laws are Adventists and we all co-exist, peacefully.
-Glad you coexist peacefully. We’ll get back with the first question. But if I were you I wouldn’t have associated my name with Baptists. The very first distinction of the Baptists is that they believe that the Bible is their final authority. I haven’t even seen any bible from you.

Secondly, Baptists are known all throughout the pages of their history as people who stand adamantly for their beliefs. Ever picked up a Baptist history book before? If you say that Baptists aren’t like that, it’s because they have either been infiltrated by worldliness and liberal jokers or have been reformed.

Then, Baptists are known to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone for Salvation- a name I have yet to see in any of your posts. It’s just all I believe in god and not religion! That’s the same stuff that come out of the hippies and charismatic’s – “Let’s all just love one another and leave our differences aside.” You believe in god? Great! So what? (Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. – James 2:19. ) Which god? Thor? Muchikiwis? Astarte? Mighty mouse?

Speaking of in-laws, Peter, regardless what the Alexs in the world tell you, he was not a Roman Catholic, and Jesus was a Jew.
-Exactly. That was my point, man. Have you ever heard of Sarcasm?

When you spread your faith, you don’t lose it. Seriously, how dumb is that?
-Seriously, man, refer to my previous answer. Look it up. It’s under the letter S. That’s what I was trying to show you all throughout. I was trying to share my faith in that beach.

I keep my faith in God, not with religion.
    -Peace, Love and Greasy Hair!

And like what i said I embrace how the Buddhist look at life, I’m impressed with Islam’s devotion, and i love my Adventist wife. Unchecked desire does lead to suffering. I am not fasting now. And I really do love my wife.
-Glad you love your wife. My point is – Those three only coexist peacefully in some Utopian Dreamland. I have missionary friends who were beaten up in Syria and taken from their families because they wouldn’t register their church. I have friends in china who were kicked out because they were holding bible studies and sharing their faith. I don’t know if you’ve been over here to the Philippines. We were sharing our faith by street preaching a couple of months back and passing out gospel tracts and people spat at us and threw stuff at us. We weren’t being ugly. We were just saying that Jesus is the only way to heaven. We didn’t even say anything regarding the spitting and others. (just in case you wouldn’t get the next statement — SARCASM ALERT!!!!!!) Oh yeah… I forgot…. We’re the war mongers with the Nuclear Bombs.

Ok I misread “when the short days start to lengthen”

Read your post, you were saying Catholicism is wrong.
-I know. I’m still saying it now! That’s why I wrote it!

Catholicism has a shady past, and the ‘organization’ is shady still, but the belief of the people is real, and their faith in God is equal to yours.
-So Catholicism isn’t wrong. It’s just shady. In your last post you used the word “Worse”. Aside from the major pussyfooting exhibition, this is a classic case of disrespecting a religion. You may not have disrespected mine but you sure did the Romans. Way to go, Bud. Told you, we’d come back to this
-Again, their faith is not equal to mine. I believe 100% that Jesus Christ alone saved me. (Acts 4:12, Eph 2:8&9, Titus 3:5, I Pet 3:18, I believe that what Jesus did in the cross of Calvary, His death, burial and resurrection is 100% sufficient for salvation. I don’t have to work for it. The Catholics may claim to believe in some of what I just said but they also believe that baptism, obeying the sacraments, and doing good works will take them to heaven. Man, they even have themselves crucified over here. So in other words, their faith in Jesus isn’t sufficient for them. They have to add the mass, the Eucharist, and the confession. Come on, they even have indulgences and prayers for the dead just to make sure they get to heaven. Talk about being majorly Unsure of the Sufficiency of Christ! Now substituting numbers to that, let us make their faith in God for salvation 80%, their faith in the mass = 10%, their faith in baptism 5% and their faith in the rest of the sacraments (or the doing the law for the Adventists) = 5%. Assuming that you weren’t cutting classes in your math subjects, tell me again with a straight face that their faith in God is equal to mine and I’ll tell you to go back to kindergarten and run your numbers again.

-No I don’t. I don’t know which god you’re talking about. You claim to believe in god but clearly not the Lord Jesus or you wouldn’t use your argument about the Jews. I’m telling you… you’re a confused man. You don’t even know what you believe. It’s all just a cocktail of generic clichés with little or no basis whatsoever. If you do have references, (Tripitaka, Koran, Ellen G White, whatever… throw them all into the pot. Unsure people tend to get as many references as they can to be in the safe side) they all are refuting each other.
-Seriously, man, you need your wife to tell me I took my references out of context? Ok. I’ll Bite. Which one? Tell me which verses I took out of context in relation to your questions and Alex’ question? I’ll even tell you my next move so you can do advanced research: I’ll go over to Romans 10:4 and ask you why Adventists take this verse out of context. Yup… it’s the 6th book of the New Testament.

I love breakfast too, who knows, maybe we will see each other in heaven soon, maybe we could even enjoy a breakfast together there. Just don’t get disappointed when you see me there because yes, my faith in God is equal to yours.
-Aren’t they great? Most important meal of the day!
-Why would I be disappointed? Man, I even hope Alex gets saved! That’s why I didn’t want to debate with him. I just wanted to “Share my faith.”
-Tell me first what your faith is, and then we’ll decide if it’s equal to mine. Have you ever seen a calculator? Those can be helpful.

Notice I am making fun of you, not your religion.
-I don’t mind. Hey, the way I see it, if I use nuclear bombs for world peace, I suppose you’re entitled to use as much fire power as you wish. Between you and me though, didn’t you say something about “respect” somewhere? Ooops, I forgot the Sarcasm Alert. But if you’re finished with this, we can have a bible study instead of this “couth-over-truth, peace, love and greasy hair” stuff. Tell me when you’re ready.

  5. Thank you for posting this one. I learned a lot.

Proverbs 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
Proverbs 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
